We need dedicated foster parents We are looking for foster parents that can foster long term. The dogs we get are castaways and some stay with us weeks, months and even years, until the right adopter comes along. We are not searching just for adopters, but the perfect forever home that includes the dog as a family member. Our main concern is that the dog does not end up back on the street or in a shelter. With that being said, if you are still interested, we would love to have you join us. We have monthly adoption events and would love for you to come with your foster dog if possible, but it is not mandatory. We do ask that you keep your foster dog's information current with updated bios and pictures. We furnish food and kennels if necessary. Some of our dogs are completely potty /kennel trained and some are not or need refresher courses. Remember these dogs come off the streets or from high kill shelters. Fostering is a wonderful way to have a dog with out all the expensive Vet bills. We furnish all vetting, medicines, monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventitives. Fostering helps a rescued dog become more adoptable and find a loving, permanent home. Foster parents teach basic commands and potty training along with socialization. The adoption events are more for socialization than anything. We do not do impulse adoptions. If we have a potential adopter, they fill out an application and references are checked. The foster parent is involved in this process, since they know the personality of their foster dog better than anyone. It is very important for the potential adopter to have conversations with the foster parent to help find the perfect home. Foster parents can provide valuable information to prospective adopters. If the foster parents thinks the potential adopter is a good fit, then arrangments are made to take the dog to them for a trial adoption. This trial is a transition period for all involved. We attempt to make sure all adoptions are the right fit, but sometimes things do not work out and we get the dog back. That is the purpose of the trial. It is a wonderful feeling to see your foster dog meet his future parent and things "click", love at first site. Fostering is very rewarding, knowing you had a special part in finding a loving dog a wonderful new home. Our foster families make it possible for dogs who would not otherwise be adopted, to find new homes. Sometimes it is hard to give up a dog you have fostered. Foster-parents have priority when it comes to adoption, but we hope they continue to foster dogs. You may worry about getting too attached to your foster dog. We have found it much easier to give up a dog when you KNOW that you have helped it find a wonderful, loving home and that you are giving it up because that was YOUR role in its’ life. It can be a bittersweet, happy experience that gives you the satisfaction of knowing you have helped save one dog and now can make room for another. Each time you open your heart and home to a new foster it helps us save one more dog!
Our goal is to save the stray and abandoned, One Dog At A Time!! please join us and fill out an online foster application
